sourcing and traceability

this coffee comes from kii factory, 1 of 3 refineries that make rungeto farmers cooperative society, a farmers union renowned for their high quality and ethically grown coffees.

processing details

this coffee is hand-picked at peak-ripeness. it is then hand-sorted for days, before they are then pulped. the coffee is then washed, graded, and dried on raised beds for between 8-14 days.

varietal / cultivar

sl24 and sl38 have been around since the 1930s, and are celebrated for their vibrant acidity and outstanding cup quality. ruiru 11 was originally developed in the 1980s for disease and coffee leaf rust resistance, while maintaining a high yield. batian followed in 2010, but has a shorter maturation time, leading to higher yields and more consistent harvests. these varietals have become indispensable to the kenya's coffee scene, and serve as hallmarks to its quality.
